'Colle Magrini' Single-Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil
a single-estate extra virgin olive oil from Sabina
We are delighted to introduce a wonderful range of single estate extra virgin olive oils from Sabina which is situated in the province of Rieti. The area of Sabina now more commonly referred to as north-west Lazio is well known for the production of the extra virgin olive oil which is commonly produced with Carboncella the region's native olive which tends to add spiciness to the olive oil.
La Mola, Sole Sabino and Colle Magrini are all extra virgin olive oils of the highest quality and of course with a very low acidity (around 0.2 - which is far below the extra virgin limit of 0.8), they contain masses of polyphenols which are health-giving and allow the olive oils to last well beyond their sell-by dates.
Colle Magrini is made in Torri situated to northern part of Sabina. This olive oil is produced by the Magrini family. The Father, Sisto Magrini's name is on the label, however it is his son Luigi who is responsible for the outstanding quality of this delicious crisp olive oil. Sisto says "He exagerrates" as Luigi pulls the fresh harvest of olives out of the sun and under the electric fans which keep them cool and fresh.
Luigi shows pride throughout production and in towards his end product, as did the rest of the region when Colle Magrini (the oil not the father!) was voted the best extra virgin olive oil in the whole of Lazio. The traditional Carboncella olive dominates this extra virgin olive oil's character but an innovative blend of Raja, Frantoio and Leccino varieties provide its unusual complexity. Sisto Magrini is a traditional extra virgin olive oil from Sabina made in a fresh modern practise which has an exeptionally clean, grassy and of course, pepper flavour. It really is delicious!
